About Us

eLorry is an Initiative to enable the rapid penetration of Zero Emission Trucks in India. It is funded by Philanthropy and Public Funds. eLorry works on multiple streams to enable ZET penetration- Policy, Pilots, Technical, Skilling, Safety and Outreach. We also support interested players in the EcoSystem by providing consulting support (mostly free) and networking. eLorry was started in October 2021 by a group of retired truck industry and eMobility professionals and supports various partners in Academia, NGOs and Consultants to get the overall objectives delivered.

India was the first country to implement dual gun charging (for Electric City Buses) with CCS-2 protocol as a standard and industry wise practice.

In India, trucks typically cover between 60,000 km and 120,000 km every year- depending on the applications.

As of April 2025, eTrucks are estimated to be financially more competitive than diesel trucks that consume at least Rs. 28 Lakhs worth of diesel per truck per annum.

Charging Infrastructure for eTrucks in India is likely to evolve along lines similar to those as proposed in the USA’s “Freight Electrification Strategy” where the initial infrastructure will start in small areas under Project mode as a set of Hubs and Spokes and the Spokes will then gradually extend grow towards other Spokes joining to form Corridors

Electric trucks are expected to be financed with about two extra years of tenure with at least 3% reduction in interest rates.

eFast is working on risk cover products for lenders so that more debts will be available for funding e-Trucks.

One of the biggest concerns for truck electrification in India is the ability of State-owned DISCOMS to provide sufficient Quality & Quantity of electricity along the highway in rural areas.

Due to better drivability of eTrucks, initial studies report on-par or better turn-around times as compared to Diesel Trucks despite the extra time spent for en route charging.

Drivers find driving eTrucks to be less strenuous due to lower noise, vibration and heat levels inside the cabin.
